Go to Marieta Islands

A group of small uninhabited islands a vew miles off the coast of Nayarit, Mexico are The Marieta Islands (Spanish: "Islas Marietas"). An abundant marine life made this islands a very popular destination.

The volcan activity from many thousands years ago formed the Marieta islands, and are completely uninhabited. From "Punta de Mita" many tours served by small boatds gives you a ride to the islands to see the wildlife and the abundant marine life of this region. From December to March you can observe gray and humpback whales that come from Alaska to the coast of Nayarit to give birth.

Only boats with an special permission from the Mexican Navy can visit these islands since they are under guard because was declared a protected area.
